We are excited to welcome Eddie Stern in Prague for the first time! He is going to share an insightful weekend of yoga practice - integrating asana, breathwork, meditation, as well as contemporary scientific insight in a clear and accessible way.
WHAT MAKES THIS WEEKEND ESPECIALLY MEANINGFUL?
Most of us know the feeling of distraction - the mind pulled in many directions at once. Yoga offers a response to this condition.
This weekend goes beyond postures.
It explores one of the most relevant capacities in modern life: the ability to be present.
Yoga describes clearly what concentration is, what the mind is, and how to use it.
Eddie will cover these ideas in simple ways over this weekend. Each lecture is complemented by chanting and meditation, allowing the teachings to be experienced directly - not only discussed.
Throughout the weekend, movement, breath, and reflection work together
- not only to strengthen the body, but to cultivate steadiness and refine awareness.
About Eddie Stern
Eddie is a yoga teacher, author, and researcher based in New York City.
He is the founder of Broome Street Ganesha Temple in Manhattan, author of the best-selling One Simple Thing, A New Look at the Science of Yoga and How it can Change Your Life, Healing Through Breathing, and is the co-creator of the Breathing App.
He has a multi-disciplinary approach to yoga which includes studying traditional texts and combining the application of the practices contained within them to science, research, technology and collaboration.
Eddie has been practicing yoga since 1987 and has spent the past 35 years traveling yearly from New York to study yoga, philosophy, ritual, and Sanskrit with his teachers in India. He presents yoga in an accessible and easily understandable way with an approach that is intentionally uncomplicated. He has a masters degree in science for yoga research from the Vivekananda Yoga University.

Sun Salutation Class
Six types of Sun Salutations from the Yoga Sangraha system, plus six dands from Kushti - the Hindu wrestling tradition. An energetic fun session, accessible to all levels.
17:00–18:00
Pranayama Level 1
Eight breathing patterns designed to slow the breath and bring calm to the nervous system. Gentle accessible and highly effective
18:15–20:15
Lecture: Five Steps for Concentration in Yoga Sutras
The first of three lecture sessions. Eddie introduces the yogic framework for understanding the mind - what concentration is, why it matters, and how to begin cultivating it. Includes chanting and meditation.
Saturday
08:00–10:00
Kriyas and Yoga Sangraha Level 1
Sangraha means “a collection” or “compendium.” This class is a grounding and calming sequence of postures arranged to have a positive effect on the nervous system. The class is oriented towards regulation of the autonomic nervous system leading to states of inner calm and balance. The class also includes kriyas - energizing and purifying practices that largely stimulate the digestive fire and support digestive function.

Lecture: How Yoga and Western Science Work Together
Where classical practice and contemporary research genuinely meet. Eddie has been working at this intersection for years — this lecture makes it accessible regardless of your background in either.

Lecture: Five Steps for Concentration
Continuing the thread from Friday evening.

Pranayama & Introduction to Yoga Sangraha Level 2
We wiil continue exploring the breathing techniques. Alongside this, we will explore an introduction to the next layer of the Sangraha sequence.

The pranayama practice deepens - adding extended techniques that balance stimulation and calm
09:15–10:45
Yoga and Strength
The most physically demanding session - classical Indian strength practices combined with yoga and cardiovascular movement. About 40–50 minutes of dynamic work, followed by calming asanas. Challenging, but structured.
11:00–12:00
Lecture: Five Steps for Concentration in Yoga
Exploring yogic approach to concentration in an accessible way suitable and applicable for the modern world.
